Ed And Warren, Gay Couple Of 42 Years, Seek Oregon Marriage Equality

Will This Gay Couple Of 42 Years Finally Be Able To Get Married?

Since the repeal of the Defense Of Marriage Act earlier this year, heartwarming videos of same-sex couples in long-term relationships who have been married or want to get married have been pouring in -- and this one will have you wiping your eyes.

Ed and Warren have been together for 42 years. The pair met when they were recruited to pick berries throughout the summer during their youth. Their story of commitment and enduring love is emotional and touching, to say the least, and they are joining the campaign seeking to get marriage equality passed in Oregon in conjunction with the Oregon United For Marriage initiative.

"I think I'd almost curl up in a ball and just wait to die if something happened to Warren," said Ed in the above video. "It's time for us at age 64 to be married after 42 years... Young people need to know that you can live for 42 years with another person and still be crazily in love. We want to be able to get married... It's time."

This push for marriage equality in Oregon comes on the heels of the Portland Trailblazers becoming the first NBA team to publicly endorse gay marriage. Oregon United For Marriage accompanies a number of other campaigns currently putting pressure on lawmakers to legalize marriage for same-sex couples in the state, including "Oregon Says I Do."
