Rob Lowe talked about his departure from "Parks & Recreation" during a recent visit to "Late Show with David Letterman." But he wasn't being very serious with his answers. He told David Letterman that both he and Rashida Jones -- who is leaving the show at the same time -- have been "deeply offended" by Amy Poehler.
"Amy Poehler’s a prick, ya know? What are you gonna do?” Lowe joked. In truth, he said he loved his job and never expected it to last so long. He signed up for a six-episode arc that stretched into 88.
Series co-creator Michael Schur told Entertainment Weekly that their farewell episode -- which films in a couple of weeks -- will be "a great Pawnee send-off."
Lowe has already lined up his next gig -- a new NBC workplace comedy. In it he'll play a pro tennis player who fell from grace and winds up as the pro at a country club. For now, though, fans can catch him on "Parks & Recreation" when the series returns with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, November 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
"Late Show with David Letterman" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
