Thomas Güntner, Taxi Driver In Germany, Returns 250,000 Euros To Elderly Couple

Cabbie Returns $340K To Elderly Couple, Pretty Much Makes Our Day

When an elderly couple in Würzburg, Germany, left 250,000 euros ($343,175) in the back of a taxi on Sunday, things didn't look good.

But an honest and dedicated cab driver named Thomas Güntner made it his duty to return the money, according to the Main-Post, a German newspaper.

Güntner noticed a cloth bag with the money in his backseat about 20 minutes after dropping the couple off at home. He'd picked them up from the bank, where they'd taken out the large sum. Güntner immediately called his main office to get the name of the passengers. When he returned to their house, he found the woman already waiting for him at her front door.

"I was in total shock," she told the Main-Post. "Huge praise and thanks to a real gentleman."

And even though he turned in a hefty amount, the taxi driver wanted nothing in return, according to the Bayerischer Rundfunk, a German radio station. Güntner told the station he was happy with just the couple's gratitude.
