Brides and grooms faced getting literal cold feet in chilly downtown Denver, where they began lining up outside a city building on Wednesday to get a wedding permit for the location of their dreams.
Friday marked the first day Denver Parks and Recreation began accepting applications for 2014 wedding and events permits -- and even though temperatures hovered around 45 degrees -- some couples weren't taking any chances.
While some wanted to get married in one of the city's public parks for sentimental reasons, an outdoor park ceremony can also be easier on the wallet, according to a report by KDVR. Outdoor sites in Denver can also host up to 350 guests.
"We want to save money and that venue is important to me," Elise Barber, who camped outside with her fiance, told The Denver Post of Cheeseman Park.
Fees for renting the park for a wedding range from $260 to $1,500 depending on the event size and whether or not there's alcohol.
According to the wedding website The Knot, having your wedding in a public park can definitely be cheaper, but it could also be less convenient for your guests (restrooms, anyone?).
But if you decide to go that route, just be aware that park wedding ceremonies are pretty popular and it may be better to plan ahead.
The Denver Parks and Recreation website calls their outdoor venues "incredibly popular," and claims that lines usually form at least the night before they begin accepting permit applications.
