Republican Bradley Byrne is facing off against fellow Republican Dean Young in a runoff election in Alabama today.

The two are battling for the GOP nomination in the race to represent Alabama's 1st district, a historically conservative area.

According to the Daily Beast, Byrne is a former state senator and member of the state board of education who narrowly lost the 2010 Republican nomination to be governor.
