'Wolverine' Sequel Could Reunite Hugh Jackman, James Mangold

With $413 million in worldwide grosses, this news seemed inevitable: According to Deadline.com, "The Wolverine" team of director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman could reunite for a sequel film. Mangold will apparently first write a script treatment before the project moves forward.

Should all things proceed as expected, "The Wolverine" sequel would mark the eighth time Jackman has starred as the famed superhero. (He next appears as Wolverine in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," out in May of 2014.)

"I'm grateful to [the fans]," Jackman said about playing Wolverine in a recent interview with HuffPost Entertainment. "And it's a rare opportunity to go and actually express that. And my career without that role would be a very different -- if you could call it a career at all."

Jackman was very happy with the film Mangold turned in, especially on the heels of 2009's much derided "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

"What I love and am so proud of that movie is Jim [Mangold] did such a great job," Jackman said. ("The Wolverine" was originally supposed to be directed by Darren Aronofsky.)
