'The Real Housewives Of Atlanta': Kandi's Mother Thinks Her Fiance Is An Opportunist (VIDEO)

'RHOA': Is Todd Only With Kandi For Her Money?

Things got tense on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," but it wasn't any of the women in the cast bringing the heat. It was Kandi's usually supportive mother, Joyce, who started hitting below the belt, according to The Stir's Rebecca Stokes. Joyce was trying to get her daughter to reconsider marrying Todd, but it was her comments regarding Kandi's daughter, Riley, and her engagement ring that hit so low.

“She does not really like Todd," Joyce said of Riley. "She said, ‘Just say, ‘Hey!’ to him and don’t pay him no attention, ‘cause that’s what I do.'" But Kandi wasn't hearing any of that. She insisted Riley had fun with her and Todd, and that if there was a problem, Riley would have told her.

So Joyce shifted gears to talk about Kandi's engagement ring. "I just want him to be able to provide for you," Joyce said. "I feel like Todd should have gone out and bought a real ring.” Kandi defended her ring, though, saying she picked it out herself. Entertainment Weekly's Andrew Asare had harsh words for Joyce, saying that she "doesn’t like any guy that Kandi dates ... It’s apparent mother knows too much about Todd and according to her sources (the streets) she thinks Todd is an opportunist."

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
