These days, our knowledge of celebrities too often originates with paparazzi images and snarky quotes by anonymous "insiders." After a while, it's easy to forget that stars are real people. That's why HuffPost Celebrity decided to launch its all-new #nofilter quick-fire question-and-answer series. Because how well do you know someone until they've shared their guiltiest pleasures?
Nelly took the music scene by storm in 2000 when his first album "Country Grammar" debuted. The title track, "Country Grammar (Hot S--t)," took over the Billboard charts (Shimmy shimmy cocoa what?) as did the record's third single, "Ride wit Me."
With hits like "Hot in Herre" and "Dilemma," Nelly has remained a superstar and recently released "M.O.," his seventh studio album. He appeared on HuffPost Live today (Nov. 12) to talk about his new music and he also sat down to take HuffPost Celebrity's #nofilter challenge.
What's your guiltiest pleasure?
What technology do you hope will be invented in the next 10 years?
I don’t know, faster planes maybe? I’m not a technology-savvy person. My son, he’s 14, he hooks up everything. He puts everything on my phone for me and everything. I call him like, "Yo, I don’t know what I’m doing. Can you help me out?"
What sense would you most be afraid to lose?
My hearing, definitely, because you can see something, but it might not really be what you’re looking at, but if you hear it, you can basically tell the difference.
What happens in your recurring dream?
I don’t know …
What’s the working title of your autobiography?
"Getting Dirty With It." I think that describes my grind to my shine.
What or who is overrated right now?
I think the Patriots [football team] are overrated. I didn’t say Tom Brady, though. No, he can never lose … Gisele. [Laughs] He’s a winner when he loses!
When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m at home and I’m playing my son in [NBA] 2k.
