"The Originals" had a big twist in store, and it ushered in the first crossover with parent series "The Vampire Diaries." It wasn't Marcel who kidnapped Hayley at the end of last week's episode after all. It was Klaus' own Mystic Falls hybrid, Tyler. But this was a very different Tyler than the young man who fell in love with Caroline back in "TVD."
Michael Trevino, who plays Tyler, told TV Guide that he's coming to New Orleans and "The Originals" as a villain. "Tyler has always been surrounded by death, and Klaus killed his mother, and Hayley had something to do with that," Trevino said. "So is it in him [to kill Hayley]? Absolutely.”
And he tried to do just that in this episode, after confirming that her blood could be used to create new hybrids. What was interesting, though, was that they appeared to be sired to Hayley rather than Klaus. But while Elijah ran into Hayley after her escape from Tyler, it was Klaus who found Tyler, and that was a fight he couldn't win. As Hollywood Life's Andy Swift noted, though, Tyler got the last laugh. He told Marcel about Klaus' hybrid baby, and it's hybrid-making potential.
