Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Maryland Lieutenant Governor and niece of the late President John F. Kennedy, admitted she doesn't know if Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
Townsend appeared on Fox News Sunday with Patrick Kennedy to discuss the anniversary of JFK's assassination and their memories of the late president.
"I don't know, I don't know," Kennedy Townsend said when asked if Oswald acted alone. "I think, I don't know."
Kennedy Townsend isn't the first to express skepticism over the true story behind Kennedy's assassination. Though he's now refusing to talk about the conspiracy, Secretary of State John Kerry has said he has "serious doubts that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone."
But belief in a conspiracy over who killed the president is slipping. According to a recent Associated Press-GfK poll, a clear majority of Americans still suspect there was a conspiracy behind Kennedy's assassination, but the percentage who believe accused shooter Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone is at its highest level since the mid-1960s.
