The Rev. Al Sharpton has been a lighting rod for social change and national politics for more than four decades. On "Oprah's Next Chapter," he says it's always been his calling -- and each of us has one to fulfill.

"I think that everybody needs to do what it is they're called to do -- what really, really wakes you up in the morning and gives you that passion," Sharpton says in the above video. "And [for me] that's civil rights, social justice. Not black rights -- civil rights for everybody. Social justice. That's my calling. That's what I do. And I do that well -- which is why I don't have an insecurity or ego problem helping others do what they do."

Sharpton, who ran for president in 2004, continues by talking about his support for President Barack Obama. "When the president got in and I would defend him and people would say, 'He ain't doing this, he ain't doing that' -- he's the president. So, he didn't come to your fish fry. He's the president. And the next president is not coming either, " Sharpton says.

"But if he delivers for America, he's going to deliver for us," Sharpton says. "The stuff about social justice, that's what we do. And I think that that's what people unfairly did to President Obama, is try to limit him because we couldn't think big enough. And I said, 'We can run the world.' And if that is not real black pride, then what is it? To be proud enough to know you can handle everything? That is pride."

"I think as many voices we can have saying there's more than one way to be black, it's so needed," Oprah says.

"Oprah's Next Chapter" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
