The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray continues to rack up awards.

So far, the redesign of the iconic muscle car has picked up Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year, and now Automobile Magazine's Car of the Year.

General Motors is doing well in the award category this year, already having scored Motor Trend's Car of the Year for the redesigned Cadillac CTS. Indeed, Automobile editors noted the closest challenger to Corvette for the award was the CTS.

Does an award winning Corvette really matter to the public? Dos it advance GM's and Chevy's comeback story from the 2009 bankruptcy? Yes.
