A 13-year-old boy in Monroe, Wash., has been expelled from school after threatening to kill two of his classmates and to cook them into chili.
The incident happened Monday on a school bus on the way to Hidden River Middle School. The boy allegedly pulled out a pocketknife, looked at one of the girls, and made the threat.
"He licked the blade twice. He turned and said 'I'm going to chop you up into chili and make your friends eat it,'" the girl said, according to KTVB-TV. "I was scared and I thought he was actually going to do it."
The suspect, whose name is not being released because of his age, allegedly quoted lines from the TV show "South Park," while waving the knife, Shari Ireton of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department told HeraldNet.com
The girl and her twin sister said the threat frightened them, but they didn’t report it to the bus driver because he had rules against getting out of the seat or making loud noises.
Although the girls and other witnesses say they then tried to report the incident at school, they were told to return to class. The girls say after telling their teachers about the incident returned to the office, but officials refused a second audience, the Monroe Monitor reported.
School principal Linda Boyle says the knife was confiscated shortly after the incident was reported, and that the student was expelled, the Associated Press reported.
One of the students who was threatened said she had to suffer in silence for four-and-a-half hours before she found out the her victimizer had been removed from the school.
"When I have break he's normally around where I hang out with my friend and I was scared ... he would really try to hurt me," she told KING-TV.
Her father, Casey Bailey, is bothered by how the district handled things with his daughter.
"There was some serious emotional distress that needed to be addressed a long time before it was," he told the station."The lack of support from the school was alarming to me."
