BASE Jump Gone Wrong Will Leave You Gasping For Breath (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

For some reason, accidents are far more cringe-worthy when they're in slow motion.

Take, for example, the footage from one BASE jumper near Moab, Utah, who had the incredible misfortune of colliding with the cliff he'd jumped from just seconds before. The result is several agonizing minutes of film, captured from the jumper's helmet camera, as he descends along the cliff toward the ground.

The slow-motion video, filmed Nov. 24 and uploaded to Vimeo by Subterminallyill, features a (somewhat) reassuring update on the film's main character, who managed to escape with a "compression fracture of the T12 vertebra, 5 stitches to the eye, 6 stitches to the chin, [and a] severely sprained back, wrist and hand," in addition to "multiple bruised areas."

While the video above isn't graphic, some viewers may find the content disturbing.

Several other BASE jumpers have experienced serious injuries in the Moab area in the last several months. A man nearly lost part of his leg after crashing on a ledge 600 feet above his intended landing zone in October. And in late November, another BASE jumper died after deploying his parachute too late in the jump.
