Jon Stewart & John Oliver Get In A Shouting Match Over Congress, 'E.T.'

Jon & John Get In A Shouting Match

On last night's "Daily Show," Jon Stewart and John Oliver got in a bit of a quarrel over the most important issue of the day: Whether it was morally acceptable for Eliott to let E.T. go free. ("A miscarriage of scientific opportunity!" Oliver insisted.)

They also fought over whether a recent congressional compromise, brokered by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Rep. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) that stopped the government from shutting down for two years was truly a significant piece of legislation. While Stewart believed it to be "modest," Oliver read some X-rated transcripts of Democrats and Republicans' discourse over the last year to show just how far they had really come.
