It's been a monumental year in TV. From Netflix original programming gaining massive steam to new genres grabbing award nominations, TV shows, and the actors that fuel them, have gained levels of critical acclaim.

And here are the breakout actors from the incredibly impressive lot:

  • James Wolk, 'The Crazy Ones'

Wolk is no stranger to television. In fact, he has been in plenty of shows before, including "Mad Men" and "Lone Star," but his breakout role came with this year's "The Crazy Ones." The actor holds his own as an eager ad executive next to Robin Williams. Co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar has taken note, saying, "Like I said to Robin, 'It's great that you're Robin Williams and you're great and you're funny, but Jimmy Wolk is stealing this entire show from you. Like, watch out.'"
  • Chelsea Peretti, 'Brooklyn Nine Nine'

Chelsea Peretti is hilarious as a civilian administrator in FOX's latest cop drama. As far as comedy goes, she keeps the detective unit in check.
  • Caitlin Fitzgerald, 'Masters of Sex'

Fitzgerald plays William Masters' wife in the new Showtime drama. From miscarriages to Florida flings, Fitzgerald's character presents a range of emotions that makes her character shine next to the stars.
  • Tom Mison, 'Sleepy Hollow'

Playing Ichabod Crane, Tom Mison could carry "Sleepy Hollow" single-handedly. Mison has plenty of brilliant co-stars to support him, but his angsty character has been said to steal the show.
  • Nicole Beharie, 'Sleepy Hollow'

Beharie's detective character in "Sleep Hollow" seems to be drawing in as many viewers as Mison's Crane. The actress has appeared in "Shame" and "42," to name a few, but has gained critics attention in her starring TV role.
  • Megan Boone, 'The Blacklist'

Boone is brilliant in "The Blacklist" and her co-star James Spader will be the first to admit it. "Megan is incredibly eager and game, and with very little experience -- and very open about that. Our relationship is a function of the relationship of the characters in the show. So it works pretty well for both of us," he explained in an interview.
  • Lindsey Gort, 'The Carrie Diaries'

Gort stands out as Samantha Jones in the "Sex and the City" prequel show, not just because of her uncanny resemblance to Kim Cattrall, but also because of her brilliant take on the iconic character.
  • Tatiana Maslany, 'Orphan Black'

Tatiana Maslany's role in "Orphan Black" is gaining incredible respect for the sci-fi genre. Don't believe it? The actress has been nominated for a Golden Globe for best TV actress in a drama.

Stoll stands out in the addictive Netflix show. He manages to present a character with noble aspirations but personal demons in a way that critics and fans, alike, adore.
  • Adelaide Kane, 'Reign'

Called a "Must-Watch Leading Lady" by Teen Vogue, Kane has a large part to play starring as Mary, Queen of Scots, in the CW's "Reign." Somehow, she's manages to deliver on the challenge.

Albert Tsai may only be nine-years-old but he's already caught the attention of his TV audience in a big way. The young actor steals plenty of laughs in "Trophy Wife," despite the competition of big-name older actors.

Amongst stiff competition, Ryan Lee has been called a "standout" actor on "Trophy Wife." He hilariously delivers as son, Warren, in the new sitcom.

Roquemore's character, Tamra, began as a guest role grew into the series regular known for hilarious one-liners. The actress reportedly has a lot in common with her TV personality, and her natural humor and excitability bring consistent laughs to the series.

Despite the fact that some of the actors have held significant TV roles previously, while others have not, the entire cast of "Orange Is The New Black" deserves the breakout actor title. The group has helped to define non-television-based programming as a respected player in the industry and has made the show a must-watch in American pop culture.
