An apparent domestic dispute inside a Florida Applebee's turned deadly Sunday night, leaving a woman dead after her estranged husband allegedly shot her multiple times.
Police said the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Sheridan Veney, was having dinner with his 18-year-old daughter at the Jacksonville family restaurant. At about 7:47 p.m., his estranged wife, Lisa, sat down at the table and the couple allegedly began to argue.
"The suspect followed her to the door, at which time he fired at her -- shooting her five times," Rutherford said, adding the victim was shot with a .38 caliber revolver.
When police arrived, they found Lisa Veney inside the restaurant. She was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Sheridan Veney, who police say stayed inside the restaurant after the shooting, was taken into custody without incident.
"He was arrested and he made a full confession," Rutherford said.
According to CBS affiliate WTEV, court records show the Veneys married in 1993, in Glen Burnie, Md. The sheriff said Monday the couple was separated and living at different residences.
Sheridan Veney, who has no prior criminal record, is being charged with murder, police said.
