Britney Spears Accused Of Faking Abs With Makeup For Las Vegas Shows

Britney Spears Accused Of Faking Her Abs

After being criticized for lip syncing through her Las Vegas residency debut, Britney Spears is now being accused of faking her abs.

Photos from the opening shows of Spears' "Piece of Me" gig at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino surfaced last weekend, showing the 32-year-old in an array of sexy and skimpy outfits. From a nude bodysuit to a bondage-inspired leotard, the pop star wasn't afraid to don the daring.

But after shots from the performances hit the Internet, some questioned if Spears' abs were the real thing. The singer posted a photo to Instagram Dec. 28, and critics were quick to leave snarky comments about how her abs appeared to be painted on.

Still, others noted that oftentimes performers use heavier body makeup specifically for the stage, where the bright lights tend to have a wash-out effect.

"People get worked into a frenzy whenever they discover that their favorite celebrity (ahem, Kim Kardashian) uses tons of contouring, shading, and makeup magic to look as sculpted as they do," Hayley Hoover of beauty blog The Gloss wrote. "While Britney is naturally gorgeous and super fit, you can’t expect her to wake up looking as rock-hard as a Twilight vampire."

Makeup or no makeup, there's no doubt Brit looks amazing and worked really hard to get ready for her Vegas stint. In September, her trainer, Tony Martinez, told E! News that Spears was doing "hardcore" Olympic-style training in preparation for the dance-heavy 90-minute shows.
