This Is What An Actual Snowpocalypse Looks Like

A "polar vortex" is bringing bone-chilling temperatures across the United States, and the weekend's storm added quite a bit of snow -- but it's nothing new in the Upper Peninsula.

In Michigan's northern peninsula, some areas received more than 15 inches of snow in the last week, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climatic Data Center. That means you might open your door to see this:

At least according to Reddit user nuxi, who posted the photo. But anyone who's lived in the UP for awhile would know what to do with such a massive snowfall: just grab a shovel and tunnel through.

"This is how thick the snow in the above picture was," nuxi wrote. "Welcome to life in a place that gets actual winter."

Did they "help" the snow look deeper than it was? Unclear, but if so, leave it to a Yooper to spend time in below-zero temperatures gathering more snow.
