Jon Stewart Points Out Bridgegate Is Actually Chris Christie's Watergate

"Does Every Scandal Have To Get A 'Gate'?"

In the wake of Chris Christie's scandal being dubbed "bridgegate," Jon Stewart took momentary pause to question why every American political scandal takes on the "gate" suffix -- before realizing that this scandal may indeed be a little too similar to the one that brought down Richard Nixon's presidency.

"Watergate was a completely different animal," he said. "It was a petty crime of political intrigue by an incumbent already cruising to an easy reelection victory. It was an unforced error where the coverup was actually more damaging..." He stopped mid-sentence, realizing that this pretty much exactly described Christie's current situation.

"I mean this is no Watergate! This is about a..." He again paused before saying the word "bridge."
