Ted Nugent Compares Jewish Movie Mogul To Nazi Propagandist

Rock musician and gun advocate Ted Nugent compared Harvey Weinstein to a Nazi propagandist after the movie mogul announced his plans to make a film that tears into the National Rifle Association.

Those who watch Weinstein's film "will see that Joseph Goebbels and Saul Alinsky is alive in the form a fat punk named Harvey Weinstein, and as he tries to destroy the NRA it will backfire on him," Nugent said on Thursday's edition of the NRA's talk news show "Cam & Company."

Weinstein, who is Jewish, was discussing his plans to direct a film about the uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto on the Howard Stern show Wednesday when the topic of guns came up. Weinstein said that just because he thinks Jews were right to fight back with guns during the Warsaw Uprising, it doesn't mean that guns should be everywhere in the United States today.

"Do you own a gun?" Stern asked.

"No... I have never wanted to have a gun," Weinstein responded.

"But if the story resonates that much with you," Stern said, "why not own a gun so that--"

"No, this is when you're marching a half a million people into Auschwitz. I mean, I'd find a gun if that was happening to my people. I don't think we need guns in this country," Weinstein said. "And I hate it, and I think the NRA is a disaster area, and I'm going to actually make a movie -- I shouldn't say this, but I'll tell it to you, Howard -- I'm going to make a movie with Meryl Streep and we're going to take this issue head on, and they're going to wish they weren't alive after I'm done with them." Weinstein added that he predicts gun stocks will "crash and burn" because of his film.

Nugent railed against Weinstein for these remarks. "I don't know if Harvey Weinstein has had a lifetime of drug and substance abuse, but he certainly sounds like it," he said on "Cam & Company" Thursday. "You have to be brain-dead to believe that the gun-free zones of Chicago and Nuremberg [Germany] in 1938 are a desirable condition."

The Anti-Defamation League has decried the myth, popular among gun advocates, that restrictions on gun ownership in Germany created the conditions that led to the Holocaust:

It should be noted that the small number of personal firearms in the hands of the small number of Germany's Jews (about 214,000) remaining in Germany in 1938 could in no way have stopped the totalitarian power of the Nazi German state. When they had weapons, Jews could symbolically resist, as they did in the 1943 Warsaw Uprising and elsewhere, but could not stop the Nazi genocide machine. Gun control did not cause the Holocaust; Nazism and anti-Semitism did.

But hey, this is coming from the same guy who said black people should be profiled like dangerous breeds of dogs.
