Celebrities' Oldest Friends Are Just Like You And Your Best Friend, Plus The Star Power

We all have that friend whom we've known for decades and remained close with despite all of the little things in life that drag you in different directions. Let's be honest -- they know too much about you to be let go.

The same sort of age–old friendship exists in the realm of celebrities. The only difference? You and your BFF didn't independently rise to massive stardom. Sorry about that …

Whether you're a "Tina and Amy" with a 21–year friendship of laughs under your belt or a "Woody and Diane" with a brief love affair and 45 years to talk about it, your friendship has withstood the test of time. Here is everyone else who joined the club:

Damon and Affleck grew up near each other, just outside of Boston, and have been close friends since childhood. The duo broke into Hollywood when they wrote and starred together in "Good Will Hunting." In this photo from 1998, the best friends accept their Golden Globe awards for the film. The two remain close and they have been known to travel and work together regularly.

Accepting the Cecil B. Demille award on Woody Allen's behalf at this year's Golden Globes, Diane Keaton referenced her 45–year friendship with the famed actor, writer and director. The pair had a romantic relationship and then worked together on many film projects in the '70s — most notably, "Annie Hall," which was based on their relationship. The friends, pictured here in 1970, remain incredibly close.

Robin Williams and the late Christopher Reeve met as drama students at Julliard, where they were roommates. The best friends promised to support one another if only one of them became successful. Luckily, that wasn't a problem, but Robin Williams did promise Reeve's family that he would cover any hospital bills that they weren't able to after the actor had his accident. This 1979 photo shows Reeve presenting Williams with the People's Choice Award for favorite male performer in a new TV series.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire first met at an audition and exchanged numbers while Maguire was filming the 1990 movie "Hot Rod Brown Class Clown." The actors became best friends and have remained close ever since. DiCaprio has said that the two talk about every single decision they make and project they take on. They starred together in "The Great Gatsby" last year and are pictured, here, enjoying a kayak ride in 1999.

Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox met on the set of "Friends" in the early '90s and have been attached at the hip (with the exception of a few falling outs) since. Aniston is the godmother to Cox's daughter Coco and the stars often vacation together. This photo of the duo was taken back in the beginning of their "Friends" days, in 1994.
Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond

Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond attended Brooklyn's Erasmus Hall High School together and both sung in the 100–member chorus. Somehow, they didn't meet for another 20 years. Here they are recording their hit duet "You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore" in 1977.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt met on the set of "Ocean's Eleven," which came out in 2001. The duo, pictured here from the same year, have remained close friends, despite not seeing each other very often. They have worked on numerous projects together, started a charity, and support one another's career.

Pictured here in 2004, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler first met in 1993 in a Chicago improv class. The two worked together on and off until 2001, when Poehler joined Fey on SNL. The pair have consistently starred together in films and on TV ever since, including their work as co–hosts at the 2014 Golden Globes. Fun fact: Tina taught Amy that waxing her eyebrows is a thing.
