Showtime debuted the trailer for its newest sexy horror drama, "Penny Dreadful," at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Thursday (Jan. 16).
Featuring Eva Green, Timothy Dalton and Josh Hartnett, the show is set in Victorian London and pulls characters like Dorian Gray, Frankenstein's monster and Dracula from classic horror literature. Oh yeah, and there's a whole lot of nudity.
"Penny Dreadful" comes from John Logan, the mind behind "Hugo," "Skyfall" and "Gladiator." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Logan said he thinks people still read "Frankenstein" because "monsters break my heart." He said, "Growing up as a gay man before it was socially acceptable, I knew what it was to feel different, alienated and not like everyone else."
Penny Dreadful premieres Sunday, May 11 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
