JaVale McGee is in the market for a new car. As an NBA center who signed a $44 million, four-year contract with the Denver Nuggets, the star player has the funds to buy just about anything he wants -- but JaVale is looking for something specific to accommodate both his height and his taste.
"Being 7-foot is sort of a challenge... A lot of cars are not made for 7-footers," JaVale explains.
One that is? A $400,000 Maybach.
"A Maybach is huge," JaVale says. "It has a lot of room, especially in the driver's seat."
On the season premiere of the McGees' new show "Mom's Got Game," JaVale and his friends visit a car dealership and check out this expensive vehicle. The car salesman tells JaVale that the spacious Maybach, which is hand-built over six months, can go from zero to 60 in five seconds. JaVale is sold. Then he hears that the price is $433,500.
"Can we get a Black Friday discount?" JaVale jokes. "$500 off, please."
That's when JaVale's mom/ business manager Pam walks in. "All right, JaVale, what're we doing in here?" she asks.
"I was just looking at how-- how good this DVD player is," JaVale responds from the backseat of the car, sipping champagne.
"Right. You just looking, right?" Pam asks.
JaVale may be sold on the Maybach, but Pam certainly isn't. "Come on, JaVale, get out the car!" she says. "Roll the window up so I can show y'all the price on this baby."
"Ain't no sticker on a Maybach," JaVale tells her.
Pam's assistant chimes in. "If you've got to ask the price, you can't afford that anyway," he says. Pam seems to agree.
"Uh-uh. That ain't in the budget," Pam tells JaVale. "This ain't how we spend our money."
"'Our,'" JaVale teases her. "She said 'our.'"
"I mean 'your,'" Pam says laughing.
