'Broad City' Creators Abbi Jacobson And Ilana Glazer Talk The Inevitable 'Girls' Comparison

Posted: Updated:

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer's laugh-out-loud series, "Broad City," premiered on Comedy Central on Wednesday (Jan. 23). Based on the web series by the same name, "Broad City" follows Abbi and Ilana, two 20-somethings in New York, as they try to scrounge for money, working terrible jobs and hating their cheese-stealing roommate's boyfriend. Sound familiar?

The show has been compared to Lena Dunham's "Girls" over and over again, though the tone is completely different. Jacobson and Glazer stopped by HuffPostLive to discuss the inevitable comparison. "At the end of the day, to be compared to a show like that is just flattering," Jacobson said. She notes that the shows are similar because they come from such specific points of view, which can be hard to find on TV.

"Broad City" caught the attention of comedy heavyweight, Amy Poehler, who signed on to executive produce the show. Within the first three episodes, Fred Armisen (wearing a diaper!), Janeane Garofalo, Rachel Dratch and Hannibal Buress all guest star, so you know it's got to be good.

"Broad City" airs Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. EST on Comedy Central.
