U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva was too busy getting arrested on the National Mall on Oct. 8, linking arms with immigration protesters and calling on Republicans to pass reform, to cast his vote on the House floor. One of the two votes the House held that day dealt with federal workers sent home without pay during the ongoing government shutdown.

By the end of the year, Grijalva, D-Ariz., had logged one of the worst attendance records in Congress.

And that’s just fine by him.
