Tips For Making Big Health Changes, From Sherri Shepherd (VIDEO)

When it comes to making healthier food choices and incorporating exercise,Sherri Shepherd, Emmy Award-Winning Cohost of The View, had some great advice for people who are just starting out.

“First, don’t overwhelm yourself with big changes,” cautioned Sherri. “Start small.”

Sherri used to be addicted to diet soda and would often drink it with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now, if she drinks a diet soda, she’ll drink a 16 ounce bottle of water alongside the soda. “As I decrease soda, I increase water. I try to drink water with every meal now,” she said.

For exercise, Sherri loves to go to Central Park after shooting The View. She’ll wrap resistance bands around her body and use ropes tied to fences to do pull-ups, lunges, and other exercises. She also takes advantage of equipment like the monkey bars to make her workout both fun and functional, since her son can play right alongside her as she works out. “Use what you have!” she said.
