Macklemore Wins Best Rap Album At The Grammys

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took home the award for Best Rap Album at the 56th annual Grammy Awards.

The Seattle duo won the award for their breakout studio album "The Heist," beating out Drake's Nothing Was the Same," Jay Z's "Magna Carta... Holy Grail," Kendrick Lamar's "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" and Kanye West's "Yeezus." Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who booked a performance at the awards show, were also nominated for Album of the Year, Song of the Year for "Same Love," Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for "Thrift Shop" and Best Music Video for "Can't Hold Us."

This is the first Grammy for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The hip-hop duo saw major success with their 2012 album, "The Heist," climbing the Billboard 200 and hitting platinum numbers in album sales. Other past winners in the Best Rap Album category include Eminem, Kanye West and Outkast.

The 2014 Grammys are hosted by LL Cool J at Los Angeles' Staples Center. The program, which features performances by big-name artists such as Beyonce, Lorde and Taylor Swift, airs on CBS.
