23 Magazine Covers That Got It Right When Depicting Powerful Women

Posted: Updated:

While media coverage of powerful women has never set a very high bar for itself, recent depictions of female politicians have reached a disappointing and embarrassing new low.

As one of the most powerful women -- if not people -- in the world, we hoped Hillary Clinton would be spared some of the petty, irrelevant criticisms and downright sexist representation on the newsstand that many powerful women are wrongfully subjected to. Evidently, that was a bit too optimistic.

Is there no middle ground between the utterly sexist and the utterly absurd?

After a bit of research, we found the top 23 magazine covers that actually got it right when depicting powerful women. Hint: The most successful covers portray women in a pretty much identical fashion to men.
