Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) were coaxed into insisting everything is fine and dandy among Republicans in a Fox News interview on Wednesday.
Fox host Sean Hannity asked Cruz and Paul about relations within the Republican Party, citing the recent "intramural struggle" each has faced with Republican colleagues as evidence there may be trouble in paradise.
Paul, who became enmeshed in a public and ongoing feud with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) last fall, assured Hannity he's moved on.
“We’re all one big happy family now,” Paul said. “It’s water under the bridge.”
“No pun intended?” Hannity joked, taking a shot at the George Washington Bridge scandal plaguing the New Jersey governor.
Cruz has faced criticism from Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and others in his ongoing -- and often reckless -- fight to repeal Obamacare. Though he didn't address the criticism head-on, he told Hannity the whole party could get behind the fight to defend the Constitution.
“I think the way we unite Republicans is we stand for principle," Cruz said. "If we’re standing to defend the Constitution, that brings together Republicans across every stripe, whether they are conservatives or libertarians or whether they’re right in the middle. That brings together independents and moderates.
"Get back to the principles this country was founded on, that's how we unite the Republican Party," he added.
