Corbin Bleu, 'High School Musical' Star, Explains Why He Cut His Long, Curly Hair (VIDEO)

Disney Star Doesn't Look Like This Anymore

When the Disney Channel film "High School Musical" made Corbin Bleu a teen star eight years ago, his mop of wild curls found many adoring fans of its own. Bleu's distinct look became a part of his signature style, but as he got older, the actor and singer decided to make the switch to a shorter cut.

A shorter look wasn't just Bleu's style preference, as he explains on an episode of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" Rather, he felt that having all that hair would hold him back professionally.

"As I continued to take on different roles, in order to be more versatile, the hair needed to be cut," he says.

Even though Bleu made the change gradually over the course of four years -- "It went down, like, halfway and then it went down a little bit more and then I shaved it all off," he says -- fans still want him to go back to his long-hair style.

"I know there's a lot of people that go, 'Why? Why? You've got to grow it back,'" Bleu says. "It takes way too long in the morning, that's why!"

"Oprah: Where Are They Now?" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
