Funny Stories From My Life As An Olympic Commentator, From Scott Hamilton (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton had some funny stories to tell us about his work as a figure skating commentator.

Scott’s first broadcast partner, John Tesh, was 6’5”, so for broadcasts, John would sit down in a chair and Scott would stand next to him! “I knew the sport really well, but when the camera is all on you, it’s hard! Now I’ve done it for about 34 years, so it’s a bit easier than it used to be,” Scott said.

When Scott first began as a commentator in 1992, he came armed with detailed notes. To his surprise, he got horrible reviews! “It was way worse than I ever thought! It was so violent and so ugly, but I loved it,” he laughed.
