WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority PAC, the Democratic super PAC focused on Senate elections, raised more than $4.7 million from donors in the last half of 2013, according to a report filed on Friday.

The largest contribution came from former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who gave $2.5 million to the group in July.

Howard Wolfson, a spokesman for the former mayor, said after the donation was revealed earlier in January, "Mike Bloomberg has made clear that he will continue to fight for the causes that matter to New Yorkers, even more so now that he isn’t constrained by the mayoralty.”

The super PAC also received $500,000 from David and Mary Boies. David Boies is a famed lawyer who has argued numerous cases before the Supreme Court, including the historic case that overturned California's ban on same sex marriage.

Other large donations included $250,000 from a labor union for laborers and $100,000 from the air traffic controllers union. Hollywood producers Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg each gave $100,000, while producer Harvey Weinstein donated $100,000 through his Weinstein Co. Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) leadership PAC gave $50,000, and the political action committee for trial lawyers pitched in $100,000.

Senate Majority PAC has already spent more than $4 million in key battleground races. The group spent $1.36 million to help Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) win a special election to the Senate in 2013. Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) was the biggest recipient of the group's support, with $1.4 million spent to aid her campaign.

Overall, the super PAC has raised $8.6 million for the entire year, far more than the $2.5 million the group raised in 2011.
