They’re cute, they’re fluffy and they come in all shapes and sizes. The competitors in Puppy Bowl X wagged their way over to HuffPost Live, baring their teeth and tails, to promote their upcoming match off, this Sunday, February 2nd at 3pm EST on Animal Planet.
Sixty-six puppies were used to film the pre-recorded event, which also includes a kitten halftime show (are you kitten me?) and penguin cheerleaders, waddling up and down the sidelines in their signature black and white suits.
The show’s main focus is to promote adoption awareness. Every animal featured comes from a shelter and organizers hope most will be found a home by the show’s airtime.
Puppy Bowl Referee Dan Schachner talked to HuffPost Live host Caitlyn Becker about this mission and the rules of the game, including penalties for paws interference and excessive cuteness.
"It’s my job to keep order and keep the game going," Schachner said, noting that his pockets are always full of bacon bits.
