Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) is apparently betting that Justin Bieber supporters won't come out to vote against him in the 2014 election.

He joked on Tuesday that he would sign a petition to deport the pop star, who is Canadian.

"As a dad with three daughters, is there someplace I can sign?" he joked on the Norfolk, Va. radio station WNOR.

A HuffPost/YouGov poll released last week found that a majority of Americans believe Bieber should be deported -- possibly because most also had a negative opinion of him -- if he is convicted of a crime. Bieber was arrested last month and charged with drunk driving, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license. His home was recently searched for evidence he was involved in vandalism of a neighbor's house.

As a non-citizen, Bieber could be deported despite his performer's visa if he is convicted of a crime that carries a sentence of more than one year. Although deportation is unlikely, it could cause him problems later when attempting to renew his visa.

A petition with calling for Bieber to be deported hit the 100,000 signature mark at the end of January, meaning the White House will have to respond. The petition now has over 245,000 signatures.
