'The Originals': Another Death Rocks The French Quarter

Another Death Rocks The French Quarter On 'The Originals'

It's not safe to be a witch in New Orleans on "The Originals." Sophie Devereaux became the latest to fall, but it wasn't at the hands of Klaus or the vampires. It was at the hands of her own niece, a fellow witch. Monique was recently resurrected -- a sign that the Harvest may be working -- but she wasn't what Sophie expected.

Sophie tried to convince Monique to leave New Orleans and all the witchy craziness behind, but Monique wasn't having it. "We’ll kill anyone who doesn’t keep the faith," she told her aunt. "You should’ve believed.”

Sophie began to bleed out of the nose and eyes before collapsing on the ground. "I was sad to see Sophie go," wrote Hollywood Life's Andy Swift, but he was't so sure this death would stick. "With all these witches coming and going as they please, who’s to say she’s even permanently dead?”

Executive producer Julie Plec seems to be saying that. She told E! Online, "I think that in this particular case, the witches having taken their vengeance against a non-believer, I don't think there's much of a hope for her to recover, given that more often than not, you need witch intervention to have a second chance at life ... I think that this may be the end of Miss Sophie.”

"The Originals" returns Tuesday, February 25 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
