Fun. member Andrew Dost joined HuffPost Live this week, speaking at length about his long-standing passion for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues.

"Gay and lesbian issues are pretty near and dear to our hearts for a number of reasons," Dost said. " I think it's just kind of shocking to us that in 2014 now, not every human in the U.S. has the same rights. When our band's popularity started to grow, we thought ... how can we use our newfound voices for something good?"

Dost is a founding member of The Ally Coalition, which "works with members of the music, fashion and entertainment worlds" in support of LGBTQ equality.

As to how his fans could make a difference, Dost noted, "Get a conversation started in a gentle, evolved, kind way."
