Former "Lost" star Evangeline Lilly is apparently Edgar Wright's top choice to play the female lead in "Ant-Man," the upcoming Marvel movie Wright is directing for the studio. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are already onboard for the project, which is set for release on July 17, 2015.

Variety first reported that Lilly was in talks for a role in "Ant-Man," and though no true specifics are available, the speculation is that she'd play Douglas' onscreen daughter and Rudd's onscreen love interest. According to THR, Lilly's role would not be a "one-off appearance," so fans would expect to see her in future Marvel properties should a deal work out.

Per an earlier Variety story, Rashida Jones and Bryce Dallas Howard were also rumored for the "Ant-Man" female lead. Jones worked with Rudd previously in "I Love You, Man" and on "Parks and Recreation"; Howard is attached to star in the next "Jurassic Park" film.

Despite the most recent report, not everyone agreed that Lilly is close to starring in "Ant-Man." Here's TheWrap's Jeff Sneider:
