A former financial trader from New York has gone missing while on a thrill-seeking motorcycle trip through Mexico.
Harry Devert, 32, was last heard from on Jan. 25 when he sent a WhatsApp text message to his girlfriend.
"Just got an hour and a half long escort out of some area it was too dangerous for me to be. Stopping for lunch and... voila Internet," Devert wrote, according to a Facebook group established to locate him. "Gonna get back on the road soon. Apparently there's another military escort waiting for me in some other town... I'm running way late because of the crazy military stuff... hopefully get a chance to talk to you tonight when I (hopefully) finally arrive."
Friends and family say that Devert planned to travel to a beach in Zihuatanejo to visit the location where the final scene in the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" was filmed, according to CNN.
Devert's girlfriend, Sarah Schiear, says he is a good communicator and would have been in contact if he could.
“I can’t even like wrap my brain around what is happening,” Schiear said, according to CBS New York.
