Jon Stewart Takes On Michael Sam Coming Out

The Daily Show

Jon Stewart spent a segment on "The Daily Show" on Monday night discussing former Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam coming out as gay. After recapping how the 24-year-old was named a 2013 All-American and how he told his teammates and coaches about his sexual orientation before the Tigers' 12-2 season, Stewart brought up how some NFL executives told Sports Illustrated that would negatively affect his own NFL draft prospects. Sam is eligible for the 2014 NFL Draft and could become the first active openly gay player ever in the league's history.

"Okay I get that. No pro team wants the type of controversy that having a gay player is going to cause," Stewart said sarcastically, before showing what kind of controversy other NFL players have brought to their teams. "If he had just been convicted of DUI vehicular manslaughter, or obstruction of justice in connection with a murder, or had been accused of sexual assault, or screamed the N-word at a concert, or killed a bunch of dogs and buried them in his f***ing backyard. You know, NFL material."

Oh, Stewart also included a Tim Tebow joke. Because why not?
