Sure, you see them play in the snow all the time. But have you ever seen a dog pitch in and help shovel?
Admittedly, this German shepherd, filmed in the Bashkortostan area of Russia, needs a little help with its throwing motion. Despite this, and despite lacking opposable thumbs, the canine is actually pretty good at clearing a path through a couple inches of snow.
According to Dr. Stanley Coren, a canine expert and professor at the University of British Columbia, German shepherds consistently rank as one of the smartest dog breeds, behind Border collies and poodles. Says Coren of dog IQ, "Their stunning flashes of brilliance and creativity are reminders that they may not be Einsteins but are sure closer to humans than we thought."
