5 Great Latino Love Stories

These Hispanic couples are known not only for their talents, but for their relationships. From incredibly tormented to scandal-free, they encompass it all. No one has the secret to make a relationship work but these five couples seemed to be doing something right -- yes, even Frida and Diego.

  • It's complicated doesn't even begin to describe this couple. Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera knew how to keep it interesting. This pair was known not only for their masterpieces, but for their stormy relationship.

    The Mexican couple married in 1929 and then again in 1940 after getting a divorce earlier that year. Their relationship was clouded by infidelity and drama. Rivera had an affair with Kahlo's younger sister and Frida with a then-exiled Russian Revolutionary Leon Trotsky.

    But despite everything, this larger than life pair stuck together until Frida's death in 1954.

  • Those that fight together, stay together? Could be the case for Helen and Cesar Chavez. The couple met while laboring as farm workers in Delano, Calif. in the 1940s. Cesar, as the leader of the farm-workers movement, was the known activist but Helena was also a big help. She was the union's bookkeeper and eventually managed the UFWA credit union.

    They married in 1948 when Cesar was discharged from the Navy and were together until his death in 1993. They had eight children.

  • Eva Duarte, an Argentine actress, married Juan Perón in 1945 right before Perón become president of Argentina. Evita, as she was known, became one of Perón's greatest political resources. Beloved by her country and by her husband her story eventually inspired a musical.

    The couple remained in power until Evita's untimely death from cancer in 1952. Perón then had her body preserved for public viewing. He was forced into exile in 1955.

  • The power of love? This Cuban power couple met in 1975 when Emilio Estefan was a keyboardist with the "Miami Latin Boys." Soon after, Gloria joined the band as the lead singer and the band became "Miami Sound Machine." The couple then became romantically involved and married in September 1978.

    Both started with very little and worked their way up to become one of the most successful couples in the music business. Gloria has won three Grammy and fourt Latin Grammy awards. Emilio has helped shape the careers of many singers, Shakira and Marc Anthony among them. Today the couple is said to be worth around $700 million.

    This lovely Cuban pair has been married for 35 scandal-free years and have two kids together.

  • Sexy spanish stars! Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are notorious for trying to keep a low profile. The duo met while filming Jamón, Jamón and got married eight years later in a small ceremony in the Bahamas.

    Both Oscar winners, Javier and Penelope are well known for their incredible talent as actors. They have even appeared together in films like "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and "The Counselor." The couple, married since 2010 have two children together.
