Pat Robertson Claims Planned Parenthood Has 'Billions Cash On Hand' To Fund 'Abortion Mill'

Conservative televangelist Pat Robertson attacked Planned Parenthood for using "government money" to operate an "abortion mill" during an interview Tuesday on the Christian Broadcasting Network.

"Planned Parenthood is enormously rich," Robertson said. "And some of these individual chapters may have as much as a billion dollars in cash on hand. They are getting right now from the federal government -- it’s in the budget -- $550 million a year. Taxpayer money to go into that abortion mill."

A 2012-2013 Planned Parenthood annual report indicates that the organization’s combined assets -- including all affiliates and the national office -- amounted to $1.6 billion.

The controversial preacher also called Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger "slightly crazy" before alluding to an unwarranted theory he posited in April about her plans to advance a mass genocidal design against African Americans.

"It is the most shocking thing that you can imagine. She was slightly crazy," Robertson said. "The wealthy people decided that rather than having a flood of poor people -- especially other races -- born in our cities that the best thing to do was mass abortion. And that’s what’s been going on with Planned Parenthood using United States government money."

In April, Robertson claimed Sanger's views were "strictly genocide."

"She was the one who set the stage for Adolf Hitler. She didn’t copy him, he copied her," he said. "Planned Parenthood -- it’s unbelievable how evil they were in the early days."

In addition to the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal financing of abortions with exceptions for incest and rape, the Affordable Care Act also mandates states to include at least one health plan on their insurance exchanges that excludes abortion services.
