Not everyone is ready with an iconic line like "Do you believe in miracles?" when the climactic moment of a classic sporting event arrives. More often than not, exuberance trumps poetry for broadcasters and fans alike. Occasionally, someone hollers a knock knock joke.
That's what happened during Sportsnet's "Tim & Sid" show when the Canadian women's hockey team capped a stunning rally in the gold medal game with the winning goal in overtime to defeat the United States at the Sochi Olympics.
Moments after watching Canadian forward Marie-Philip Poulin score the gold medal-winning goal, Sid Seixeiro shouted a bizarre knock knock joke that you may soon be hearing throughout Canada:
"Knock, knock! Who's there? Gold medal in the face! That's who's there!"
This was apparently just the most recent iteration of the joke. When Canada tied the game in the final minute of the third period, Seixeiro offered up another knock knock exclamation.
"Knock, knock! Who's there? Sochi in the face!"
