Posted: Updated:

There were a lot of wrecks at Sunday's rainy 2014 Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Danica Patrick had to leave the race early after a wreck took her car out of contention, and she wasn't the only one to see a premature end.

Nine of the 43 cars were knocked out due to vehicle damage caused by accidents.

Check out the GIFs (below) to see the biggest wrecks from the race, then have a look at Fox Sports’ video (above) of highlights from the 500, including Dale Earnhardt Jr. taking the checkered flag.

While Dale Earnhardt Jr. crossed the finish line and took the checkered flag with his car's body intact, other drivers, such as Kyle Busch (18), couldn't say the same after a big wreck during the last lap of the 2014 Daytona 500.
