When the brawny drama "Vikings" returns Thursday (Feb. 27), it'll show just how much life has changed for a key character.

In the show's first season, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his band of Viking raiders kidnapped an English monk named Athelstan (George Blagden). Athelstan, who now views Ragnar as a friend but still remains a bit wary of the hard-living Vikings, has learned a new way of life, but the enjoyable second season will reveal that he has not forgotten the beliefs or the language of his former life.

But the exclusive HuffPost TV clip here reveals just how much Athelstan has changed since he's lived among the Ragnar and the rest of the Vikings. He is no longer a meek monk. But is he a Viking?

"Vikings" airs 10 p.m. EST Thursdays on History.
