HuffPost Live Discusses Polyamorous Relationships

WATCH: How Do People In Polyamorous Relationships Deal With Jealousy?

HuffPost Live sat down with relationship expert Stacey Nelkin, HuffPost Gay Voices Executive Editor Noah Michelson and Robyn Trask, who is in a polyamorous relationship, yesterday to discuss the dynamics of polyamorous relationships and how to successfully navigate the challenges that can come along with being in one.

One of the main issues discussed was partner jealousy. Trask admits that jealousy exists, but she doesn't see it as a defining factor in her relationships, and stresses open and honest communication as key to making polyamory sustainable.

"I think there is something that people miss and that is we do have the opportunity of what we call 'compersion' and that is being happy for our partner being with someone else," Trask told HuffPost Live in the above clip. "I can remember a time when I looked over and my partner was snuggling with somebody and I really liked her, and I was excited! It excited me to see him because I knew that he liked her and I knew how he felt about her so I was really happy for him. I got this kind of giddy feeling inside me! So jealousy can be overcome."

Trask also shared with her experiences raising her three children while in a polyamorous relationship. Curious to hear more? Check out the clip below or head here to watch the segment in full.
