Power Outage Darkens Capitol, Making It Even Harder To Not Accomplish Anything

The U.S. Capitol went dark on Wednesday evening in a power outage. Photos and accounts flooded Twitter, interspersed with jokes about the state of U.S. politics.

Power was restored within the hour according to an Architect of the Capitol staff person.

According to Fox News DC's Shawn Yancy, the outage was the result of a power surge. A Congressional source told Pergram that high winds had tripped breakers, and had now been reset. The Washington D.C. area was bracing for a storm Wednesday evening, with forecasts for 50 mph winds.
