Advice From My Mother And Grandmother, From Chelsea Clinton (VIDEO)

Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, had a brilliant response to the question, “What is the best advice your mother gave you?”

Chelsea’s mother and grandmother both played a tremendous role in shaping Chelsea’s views and values growing up. "My grandmother instilled this credo in my mother that life is not about what happens to you; it’s about what you do with what happens to you,” Chelsea said. “It’s about creating opportunities and seizing them.”

Chelsea’s grandmother had an incredible life before she passed several years ago. Abandoned twice by the age of eight, she had to support herself from age 13. After overcoming those hardships, she was still able to create a supportive, loving home for Chelsea’s mother and encourage her to pursue her dreams.

“My grandmother, who was born before women were able to vote, got to vote for her daughter in the 2008 election,” Chelsea shared with us. “Her ethos and outlook instilled so much in me.”
