Mary-Louise Parker Recalls 'Angels In America' And Its Impact On LGBT Rights

Emmy and Tony-winning actress Mary Louise Parker recalled her seminal turn in HBO's " Angels in America" during a HuffPost Live interview this week, and also took time to sound off on the state of gay rights in the U.S. at present.

"I love what it said," Parker said of the film, which was based on Tony Kushner's 1993 Pulitzer Prize-winning play. "I love what it evoked and what it put out there in the consciousness."

As for how things have shifted for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in the years since the film, Parker noted, "I think there's still a ways to go, but it does make me feel good."

She added, "Everywhere, people's opinions of other people's sexuality can be sullied by a million things -- religion and upbringing and whatever ... [but] I think people are more accepting now, I would hope."
